for everyone

In one of my last blogs I was talking about Isaiah 54 and how it pertains to the gentiles and the promises God has made to them.......He said it was as important to Him as was the promise of not flooding the earth again.........well, the my friend John said that the law is not gone because of Christ necessarily........at least that is what I took it that he meant..........so I thought I should do a blog about religion in general and Orthodox Judaism in particular.......

As you all know I have dabbled with learning about different religions and the orthodox Judaism has been of late an issue with me because of my sis and her conversion.......I tend to disagree with her viewpoints and I tend to listen to them very carefully so as to have an understanding of them.  I want you guys to know that when I use the term "the Law", I am not talking about the ten commandments per say.  I thought I should clarify this because when it comes to the ten commandments, John is correct........thou shalt not kill is also thou shalt not hate........and only a person with the Holy Spirit inside them can really comprehend how expansive the ten commandments really are and even then they should study the new testiment to really get that......the Holy Spirit will lead someone who is listening if they have a deposit of it, this is true........but for years, though I was a christian, I didn't understand the implications or the evils of "thou shalt not covet" until hindsight provided me a clear view and until I was absolutely understanding that I was guilty of that particular sin big-time.

Anyway........when I speak of the law........I speak of the Torah as well as the ten commandments because the Torah is the oral law and I also speak of the other laws in the Bible that were given to the Jewish people.........my sister blesses her dishes with water in a bucket before she can use them after they've been washed.  She does the ceremonial mitvah (cleansing bath), she avoids touching her husband during her cycle or sitting where he does, she has two sets of dishes, one for meat products, another for milk.........two refrigerators, one for meat, another for milk, her eating requirements are rigid according to oral law, strict orthodox people even have two tables.......one for a meal with meat and another if the meal is with milk.  She cant adjust her air conditioning on the Sabbath or drive her car or cook, and I hear in Isreal the elevators are set to open on every floor on the Sabbath so that no one has to push the button to get the right one...........do you see what I'm talking about?  This is all RELIGION........in my viewpoint it is anyway........to be fair she tells me that the reasoning is that in everything she does God is present in her thoughts and that is why she actually feels closer to Him with this religion.......to me it is all works you see and therein is the rub........

So many religions are based upon what MAN does to uplift himself........so many of them........even within the christian religion there are many who believe going to church and reading the Bible and and acting and dressing a certain way and following the ten commandments are the ticket to heaven........as Adrian Rogers used to say........lots of people are working their way right out of salvation (paraphrasing).  You see, lots of people believe they are just too good of people to NEED Christ, they figure that is for sinners........

Ok, let me tell you what I believe........I dont believe you can clean up the outside and then the inside will eventually follow..........I just dont believe that......it is contrary to what the Bible teaches......I believe the law is designed to diagnose sin and to be used as an indicator of whether or not you need Christ........I also believe that NO ONE can be saved by the law because the law is so much more than what is on the outside..........thou shalt not covet is a sin of the mind.......and you know what?  Christ often said that the least would be the greatest........now I know He was talking about disciples..........I know that........but honestly..........if you knew what coveting can do.......coveting knowledge was the VERY FIRST SIN.  And look where it has landed mankind!  Anyway, in light of the fact that the sin nature lies within the flesh and will be with us as long as we are tied to the flesh.......naturally, EVERYONE needs Christ.........everyone........

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if the Law was so durned necessary to reach God and have a good relationship with Him, then Adam or Abraham would have been given the law in the first place.......God would NOT have waited to give it to Moses.  Maybe one of these days I will understand why, at that time, God decided to hand down the law to the people and not before then.........but I'm betting my sister already has a plausible answer ;P

The facts are that Abraham's FAITH was accounted to him as righteousness.  As was Isaac and Jacob's faith accounted to them as righteousness.  Abraham was told that ALL nations would be blessed through him........now if it had been the job of Christ to come and subdue the other nations on the behalf of Isreal and set them up to rule the world, then HOW is that a blessing to all the nations?  Isreal thinks they are supposed to get the world in perfect order for their coming messiah, Islam thinks they are to get the world in order for their coming messiah.........there is no telling what other religions teach this........and many of them simply believe that eliminating the notion of sin would make the world perfect for everyone.........the problem with that is that on the inside, they certainly know better than that.  That would be tatamount to allowing sex offenders to do as they pleased because that's what they WANT to do and allowing murders to do as they pleased because of whatever reason and lying would be no big deal........dont you see that sin is sin?

So when I speak of the law...........I speak of something much broader than the ten commandments and Christ was guilty of breaking the Torah........and buddy I'm here to tell you that the orthodox types make much of this.......He could feed five thousand and heal on the Sabbath and raise the dead.........but by golly, NO ONE is supposed to challange that Torah.........now tell me........isn't that like throwing the baby out with the bathwater?  I have been told that worshipping Christ is idolatry, which is what the orthodox people believe.......as they do not believe He was who we say He is.  They do not believe God can be inside a man.........I think they dont understand the nature or the power of the God I know who can do what He durned well pleases.  They deny the power behind who gave them their ten commandments and the law and the following of the law has taken a huge precidence over the author of that law.  That is what I believe.........the Sabbath was not given for a hardship..........but for rest.....it was a time for mercy from the day to day battles........when would be a better time to heal a man?

I just plain think it is worshipping the religion more so than God........period.  Therefore I do not esteem this religion........I'm sorry..........I just cant.......I would be a hypocrit if I did.......(spelling)

Little things bother me that you wouldn't believe.........Pastor Haggee bothers me when he says "in the house of GOD".  Do you know why?  Because the body is the temple, which is the house of God........and in his church there are most likely many houses of God, and when they all leave to go home and the building stands empty, it is merely a building........the body of Christ is the house of God, not any building.

I saw Obama at a sermon the other day and there was a white preacher preaching to primarily a black congregation........and he told them that when the children of Isreal left Egypt, that the Egyptians gave them all their riches to take with them before they left and that was the reason the army came after them.......he seemed to be comparing the slavery of the children of Isreal to that of the black people in the United States and THAT offended me........pandering....that's all it was.........just pandering.........you see, Isreal moved to Egypt and started out being honored there as guests and THEN were enslaved.........the black people in America began as slaves and are now citizens, voters, educated, uplifted..........they have made great strides in a short time when you think of the grand scheme of history.......in this country......it is NOT the same thing.......and you should have seen those people shout......most of them dressed in nicer clothes than I can afford.........I was offended......then I thought to myself.........."How did the children of Isreal have TIME to gather all those riches when reportedly they were leaving with unleavened bread and in a hurry?"  Maybe they found the time, I dont know........maybe the Egyptians werent giving the money to the Isrealites so much as trying to buy off their God they were wanting to go and worship?  They had all lost the oldest in their households just that night, perhaps they feared what was coming next?  And what did Isreal DO with that "treasure"?  Did they go to the promised land and buy up what they and not built and what they had not plowed with it?  NO...........they built and idol in the desert while Moses was off getting the ten commandments.........no wonder God made the first one say what it said.......He knew what was up down in that valley long before Moses ever got back with the tablets!

Anyway, I thought to myself..........how DARE that preacher use the word of God to pander to those people like that?  And quite frankly I'm getting SICK and TIRED of hearing how AWEFUL they have it in this country when I hear horror stories galore coming from out of Africa on how they treat each other (same race now) in that country.........HOW DARE THEY?!  White people are so darned apologetic for what happened so long ago that they are voting for Obama to ease their guilt complex!  I dont think I'm going to be watching that preacher any more.......he should have been preaching about the love of Christ.......the sacrifice of Christ........the way men should treat each other........not talking about escaping from bad conditions with someone else's treasure!  (Hush Iggy or I'm going to demand a free exam!)

Anyway......I think I've ranted long enough and I'm not even sure if I got my point across.........maybe I got several of them across I dont know.......I can bet your bottom dollar Colon Powell would not step foot in Obama's church........that man worked for what he has and didnt' expect to get it handed to him because he was not born white.  He didn't make his money on the heartache of others and he didn't make his reputation on his skin tone and how uplifting him would uplift the whole race.  I so wish he would be John McCain's running buddy because frankly, if he ran for president, I would vote for him.......and you know what?  I thought a lot of people had his attitude..........but I'm seeing I was wrong and there are less THINKING people in this world than I thought there were.........but that's not a race issue.......that's just a people issue........I better go before I get into trouble.........hope you have a good day.  I guess I can go to bed now, the storm watches are about gone......

i think the way shirah follows the laws of her religion show how dedicated she is to it .. everyone naturally assumes that all western ppl are christians, which we are not, and to choose a strict orthodox religion and to follow it's rules to the letter, just proves how sincere and disciplined she is in her beliefs.

the reason god chose moses was because he was learned, he had the best education in the pharoahs court .. the others were all ignorant peasants, and could not read or write, therefore they could not write down the laws. :)

hebrews chapter 11 also explains the qualities moses had that made him gods choice.

Thanks Nina, I'll check into Hebrews 11........and I respect the dedication to any religion but I also believe in relationship with God Himself and think it is a closer relationship when we rely on Christ moreso than our own abilities.......if that makes any sense.........I know that the basics of the law are not done away with because of Christ, only better and further explained.......but I sincerely dont believe one can go to heaven by following the law.

YOU ARE RIGHT ON CRYSTAL. WE MUST HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.THAT IS WHY HE CAME TO DIE ON THE CROSS TO SET US FREE FROM TRYING TO LIVE BY THE LETTER OF THE LAW. WE CAN'T BUT JESUS SET US FREE BY TAKEING OUR PLACE AT CALVARY. P.T.L. NO RELIGION A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP AS YOU SAY. GOOD JOB.

I think people can be sincere in their faith and be the most devote in keeping their laws and still be lost. It is faith in Christ that saves. If we misplace our faith it doesn't matter how perfectly we follow the law. Even if we could be 100% perfect in keeping ALL the law, it wouldn't be good enough. Nothing is good enough but the blood of Jesus. If our faith is in any other thing than the atoning blood of Jesus then we will be lost. Can a person do both? Many years ago one of my Jewish friends asked me this question and I thought and answered "sure, I dont' see anything wrong with that" but many years later I wrote him and reminded him of this conversation and told him I had changed my mind upon further study because it must all be about Jesus and if we think we can add anything to what He did on the cross then it is wrong. I think each person should have a born again experience and then allow the Holy Spirit guide them. The Holy Spirit within helps us to obey and what might not be right for me, might be okay for someone else. The diciples agreed not to force the gentiles to follow the Jewish law. I think sometimes we get so caught up in following the law we forget to follow the law giver. When we have a relationship with Jesus, the law giver, then we are free to live as He wants us to and He will complete the good work He has started in us. It's all about Jesus and nothing else. This is just my opinion from what I feel the Holy Spirit has revealed to me. There is only one way to God the Father and that is through Jesus, His son. Our faith must remain in that fact, then and only then are we saved. I know many today would say I am dogmatic, intolerant. I don't think I am. I am very tolerant. Believe as you will, it won't bother me, I won't belittle or degrade you or hurt you. I will always long for you to know the truth but you are free to do as you will. If only you would look to Jesus and place that tiny little grain of mustard seed faith in the Saviour of the world, you would know why I feel this way. I pray God will continue to open our hearts and minds to His truth. Keep looking up, keep clinging to Jesus and keep on keepin on! I hope you have a great weekend Crystal. Thank You for letting me tell you what I believe. God bless you now. Luv ya, rhonda

BTW, my friend I was talking about, wrote me back and I was so happy to hear that he and his wife had accepted Jesus and they wrote me and blessed me with truth's that I hadn't discovered yet. He died several years ago from some form of cancer. He was very young early 30's, but how I rejoice to know that because of his faith placed in Jesus, I will see Scotty again.
"What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh precious is the the flow, that makes me white as snow
No other fount I kow, nothing but the blood of Jesus" Robert Lowry 1876 (hymn)
Hebrews 9:22 Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.
Thank You God for Your precious son Jesus. Thank You Jesus for willingly dying to redeem us.

I believe in the Trinity.... I believe in the idea of the ten commandments...after that you get into 'nw' and 'old' law ....and even what you mention Crystal

all the rest I agree with some, disagree with some....I agree on churches, they are more for fellowship of ones wanting it.....Denominational country clubs

I rely on my faith growing by life expericance, and my interactions with God And Christ.....I'll not get to heaven quicker if I can quote every word in the Bible....

Like
Nina said on my blog, and I agree with......Mr Powell is too nice, and in my mind to ethical to run for office UNLESS he felt inside the true need to do so

I have to say that sometimes you make me furious with your attacks on my religion. But then I pity you. You honestly believe you know the whole story when all you know is the false ending. The new testament was written way after Jesus died by an egotistical pharisee and some ignorant fishermen. There are THOUSANDS of books that were written and have been written about the ORIGINAL text that G-d sent as an instruction book for his people. I find that for christians, it is a convenient way to sit on their butts and do nothing because "IT won't get you to heaven anyway". I think it is shallow for you to do an action for a reward too. I don't follow the Torah because I want to go to heaven, I follow the Torah because in this insane world it is my instruction book for survival. The only answer any of you people have given to questions that arise in your faith is "you gotta take it on faith anyway" well that's a bunch of crap. The first commandment *which you claim to believe in* says "KNOW THAT I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD". Nowhere does it say you must believe it it says KNOW it. I Know what I believe is correct because it was the original rulebook and why would I settle for a cheap imitation thousands of years later? I go straight to the source. When i did that I found that the New testament was a lie and it's messiah a con artist and your new testament has so many mistakes and errors that it is an unreliable source of information. I really think if you want to pick on my religion the least you could do is learn about it. Your information about my practices are somewhat off skew too. I also think that it would be better to worry about how you live your live and effect the world around you than to worry about going to heaven when you die. If you live a good life and do what G-d wants of you you will be assured to go to heaven.

Oh, by the way, I was reading through your blogs and it seems you dog on the Jews as much as possible then you lift yourself up. Why is that? I guess it makes you feel better huh?

I suppose the only thing that will reveal the truth to all of us is time. In time we all will see what the truth is. Upon our deaths or upon His return, a time is coming when we all will KNOW the truth. I pray that God will open our hearts and minds to HIS truth and grant us strength to follow it. Amen.
alterb4ego wrote on Mar 16
Shirah, I appreciate your viewpoint but I must be honest........when you converted the first thing you did was dog on my religion to me and call me an idolator........you did this facetiously and with a blanket statements about christians in general but you did it none-the-less and I found myself lumped into the group.........you also have made it very plain to me the you think all christians are hypocrits......this is nothing new.........I remained silent for some time before I finally spoke my mind and you know all the defenses I have for what you have said as we have discussed them......

Christianity is not following the law but in truth, but following a heartfelt expansion upon the ten commandments as once you receive the Holy Spirit you realize that sin is not in the doing all the time but also a matter of what comes out of the heart, thou shalt not kill also expands to thou shalt not hate, thou shalt not commit adultery also expanded into thou shalt not look upon thy neighbor's wife with lust in your heart.......once you become a christian and your heart belongs to God then you realize that loving one another is the key just as Christ loved His people and died for all......there are spiritual things in this universe that only Christ could accomplish and I dont expect you to understand the differences in what I can do verses what Christ has already done on our behalf.....it takes letting go of the id to do that and most people cannot float like that, they feel they must swim or die.........thanks for your comment and the debate and I'm sorry if I sound anti-Jewish because I am not........the whole world has been blessed by the presence of the Jewish nation and I am so glad that God is with them for the sake of His Holy Name........it is the religiosity and the rejection of Christ I have a problem with, not the people themselves, that is, until I read how they persecute christians even to this day in Jeruselem.......then I get a bit irritated........for if Christ is not a true issue and if Christ was only a pitiful man with a pitiful history, then why do they find themselves feeling so threatened by the Gospel? I cannot lift myself up..........but I have been uplifted by Him as are all who can call Jesus "Lord".........for only by the Spirit can one do such a thing....I love you too and I would expect nothing less than you defending what you believe........have a good day and I hope you enjoy your visit today! Hugs!

christianity is a religion that came about after jesus died, it was formed by men, not jesus himself .. jesus commanded his followers to observe the jewish religious days, as he was a jew himself, but apart from the messianic jews, no christian does as jesus commanded and observes passover etc .. why is that? surely a true follower of christ would adhere to his commands.
also jesus asked his followers to take into them his body and blood, ie: a mass for his soul, but apart from anglican catholics and roman catholics, very few christian religions do this, yet another rebellion against his wishes... so i ask, who exactly do christians worship? the man himself and his teachings, (obviously not as his commands are ignored) or the teachings of the men who followed and wrote about him?

its alot to read ill have to come back, I have one thing to say,,, One day the jews will accept that Jesus is thier Saviour and when that happens, He will come back and set up His Kingdom here on earth. Look back several years ago and see the miracles that happened during the wars and how Isreal was saved... God is Unhappy! He does not want His land given away! But at the same time Isreal cannot appear weak. But giving His land away is Not the answer. There is a war on the brink right now... you just wait and see... Gog and Magog.. and the Antichrist is waiting to appear

I believe God Loves us all, and we should Love God Back. All churches and religions have their own politics and some are more focussed on the politics than the spirit of God coming into us. The Book of Urantia is my other bible as well as 4 different versions. My hubby reads the new testament every sunday morning before he even gets out of bed. All I know is that if we don't have a belief in SOMEONE greater than all of us, we must believe ourselves to be a God. That's Crazy. Remember,
there are many names for God, and for his son, Jesus. Personally, I believe that God gave us his only son to save us all, and what a sacrifice that had to have been as I can't say I would give my only son up to die on a cross for anyone elses' sins. Happy Easter to you all.
alterb4ego wrote on Mar 16
Nina, Jesus told the disciples to go and proclaim the Gospel, that is how christianity was formed. And the christian churches do not have a mass, but they do have a ceremony where they eat unleavened bread and drink juice in order to observe that particular thing, yes they do, they call it communion........I think.......and furthermore, as far as observing many of the Jewish holidays, it was not my flesh and blood in Egypt who left there in a hurry after being slaves for years, so I dont observe it because it does not pertain to my bloodline, and so it is with many of their holidays. I dont get out and march on MLK day with a sign talking about uplifting my people and what all we have been through either.......I consider it inappropriate to claim a history that is not necessarily mine.

Furthermore, every christian holiday we know that has been set up by the christian community, the Jewish people are re-educating christians as fast as they can to tell them about the pagan roots of said holidays and further reduce the amount of listening about Christ in the world and the communities around them. You can say all you want, but these people are basicly trying to undo christianity in a very polite way and replace into the culture the Jewish traditions........I'm not saying many of them do not have good intentions........but when I see Christmas trees and nativity scenes and when Easter comes around, I know what they mean to me and they are trying to stop all things Christ related.......I am really not on the offensive here as it would seem........I'm on the defensive side as used too, I esteemed the Jewish community........until they began trying to change christian traditions and replace them with their own........

Also, if I love my brother as myself and treat other people with love, then I AM doing as the Lord said to do.......He said that all the law and the prophets hang on the worship of God as God and no other gods before Him and how we treat each other........and frankly, in most of the relationships of my life, I have basicly left people better off than I found them and have done no harm to any but myself and one innocent baby and even that, is a matter of perspective in my opinion and I have been forgiven.......what good am I if I observe man's religion and hate my brother?

Hi Crystal, at communion we dont use unleavend bread, (Christian non denom church) but it has to be plain, the unleavened had to do with Jewish tradition. kinda like this// leavened bread is "puffed up" and that goes with a big long tradition that the Jewish carry on... we use plain bread cut into cubes and grape juice so the children can participate in communion. the bread is the body of Chrit and the juice is his blood. Jewish use unleavened Matzo because it is striped, flat and bruised like Jesus was... I know u know the rest of it,,,,, we dont do the Jewish thing at our church either cos we are not Jewish, although we recognize the Jewish tradition... I agree with ya on it all i just wanted to clarify the Christian church on the communion thing,
alterb4ego wrote on Mar 16
Wow, Eileen, I always assumed that cracker I got at communion was considered unleavened bread! thanks for setting me straight.......I didn't know.
kingdomseeker wrote on Mar 16
well, maybe it was but at our church we dont do crackers it is always bread...usually the unleavened stuff is for the jewish community, at passover the jewish have lotsoa traditons there is one that involves the unleavend cracker.. they pray then wrap it in a linen kinda like shroud then hide it for the childen to find the first one to find it gets a special prayer over them... hey i am definity not an expert on the subject tho!!!
alterb4ego wrote on Mar 16
Aw, neither am I, but I'm trying to learn more about it because I believe many of their traditions are pointers to Christ........like their bread.........but they dont see it because their eyes are glued shut! No, some of their eyes are glued shut! I dont mean to generalize because there are Jews who are also christians.......and I thank the Lord for them and their ability to point out the traditions that point to Christ........we always had crackers in every church I've done that ceremony in and I've only done that ceremony a few times in my life as I dont attend church regularly enough to be there when they do it and if you arent' a member of that particular church, a lot of them wont allow you to participate. Hope you have a good night!
kingdomseeker wrote on Mar 16
You got that right, their eyes ARE glued shut! thats why Jesus is waiting! I know what u mean tho.. Jews that convert to Christianity are shunned.. ok, if a mom and dad have a child that converts they have a ceremony... i forge the name but, they have like a funeral in their mind the father says something stupid like he disinherts the kid and the mom says that she wished her child was never born! There is an official name for it tho I can t remember. But it means that the parents are sad the kid found Jesus cos they dont believe He is the Messiah... Isnt that sad? it is hard not to generalize cos of what you said. The Jewish do all these ceremonies but still wont belive that He is their God.

I have to add that you are right about communion at some churches you HAVE to be a member to participate... that is WRONG! Who are churches to make rhe rules?? If you belive in your heart that Jesus is your Saviour then thats all you need. i went to a Catholic church that demanded this...I could go on about it but wont, at our church you can take communion without fear of reprimand... we do it every first Sunday of the month, In fact, my mom who hasnt been to church in yearsss particpated 2 weeks a go and so had my 10 yr old neice .

The reason I wrote on this subject, Shirah, is because of a previous blog written by me and to expound upon the subject, in general, of the law as I speak of it in contrast to what the average person might think I mean when I use the term, the law..it was in response to copperhead's comment actually in THIS blog http://alterb4ego.multiply.com/journal/item/520 so that he might be clued in that when I use the words, the law, that is is much more expansive than what he realized I was talking about because when Christ handed down what we are to actually behave like, it makes the basics of the law look like cake actually.........this was not, in any form or fashion, directed at you, your name came up simply because you are the conduit for my learning more about it all and I suppose I was trying to point out that many of the rules you follow in no form or fashion pertain to how other people are treated or anything more than just a set of rules to follow whereas the ten commandments are designed to teach us not to be hurtful toward our fellow man........and now that I have explained to you that bit of info which you were lacking, I want to remind you that though we have an agreement, I dont think my blog was part of it and your religious practices do not amount to personal information in my opinion as they are practiced by loads of people.........also, one of the comments you deleted made it to my inbox and if you so desire to do as you said then that is your decision, but I will not be stifled in what I believe. Many have shed blood and died so that I have the right to my beliefs and the right to disagree with the beliefs of others.......be sound in what you believe and do not allow my thoughts on it to alter your mood because if you are right, and I am wrong, then God will one day straighten me out I have no doubt about that and vice versa. You pretty much told me I was doing something satanic when you called me an idolator did you not? I did not give any ultimatums over it either........I gave you room to believe as you wished without any threats or any "punishments". I have at least remained open to your affronts to what I believe and have discussed verses you put in front of me, every time I give you a verse you close your eyes to what it says and move on to the arguement. Perhaps this is God's will for the time being, I dont know.......and it is all in His capable hands and I will leave it there........your decision is your decision and frankly, I'm ready to deal with whatever you decide like a grown up with her big girl panties on so to speak......

This is a hard discussion to have because it can go in so many directions but, the good news is, one day Jesus will return and reconcile everything; the veil will be lifted from the eyes of the Chosen People and they will repent, then all Israel will be saved, according to the Word. Being a Christian, I choose not to follow Jewish traditions because they are shadows of the coming of the Messiah and we have the real Savior Who has already come so why follow a tradition as if the Reality never existed? The Law only covers sin; salvation in Jesus Christ takes it away completely. The New replacing the Old...it's just that simple.
